- Evaluation of Anti-oxidant properties of some medicinal plant products by ABTS Radical Scavenging Assay

Antioxidant properties of plant products Cumin, Cinnamon, Pepper, Clove, and Star anise were measured against Quercetin as control by ABTS radical scavenging assay. The absorbance is recorded at 734nm, and percent inhibition is calculated at different concentrations of the sample. Graph pad prism method is used to calculate the IC50 values. A comparative account is tabulated in the study for the afore-mentioned plant products. Among the tested samples, Cinnamon has exhibited the highest IC50 value being 142 in chloroform extracts and the lowest being 18.09 is of star anise in methanol extracts.Keywords
